Hello there!

Over at rick’s blog domainers discuss of the upcoming Auction of Rio.com. Speculations are high as 3 plus millions while Brazil.com sold in the recent past for 500K.

The argument for millions is that the sale was closed before Brazil won the Olympic. So that the potential is mush higher now. There could e other arguments such as Rio is 3 letter domain and Brazil is 6 letter. Brazil has a crack as could be easily misspelled like Brasil.com or Bracil.com

Lets look at the current numbers. The Google trend favors Rio too . . .

Google trend for Rio and Brazil

Google trend for Rio(blue) and Brazil(red)

Now let’s look at the searches.

Brazil is searched 673k and Rio tails at 246k. Now this number could change with Olympics.

My numbers point towards 658K. So what do you folks think? place your number in rick’s blog comment to win a entrance to T.R.A.F.F.I.C 2010 here

Once the current financial crisis comes to and end and consumer confident turns in the right direction many businesses especially the small to medium enterprises will turn to online marketing. Why? Since, it will reduce the cost while boosting the leads at a fraction of their current cost.

That is great news for Domainers. Here I have to input my 2 cents advice to Domainers. Do not over price your domains. It will keep the potential buyers away from you while they will search for alternative.

Unless you have the category killer name, the buyer is not going to pay the premium you expect. If you are approached by an end use, you should know that you will be paid a nice sum for your domain. So think twice before rejecting any sale.

My expectation is that by middle of 2010, Domainers will realize the heat in this industry. Stay tuned . . .
